Gran Turismo 7 Release Date is March 4, 2022: Gran Turismo 7 is the game I can't wait to play in 2022

Gran Turismo 7 is set to release on March 4, 2022, and it's the game I've been waiting for for over eight years. It's the one game that, hopefully, will justify the purchase of a PS5.

The last full Gran Turismo game was released in 2003. Gran Turismo Sport was released in the interim, but it lacked the depth of the full game, despite having great graphics and online gaming. I like racing, but what I like best about GT is the variety of cars and tracks, as well as the licenses. It's a game you can revisit at your leisure or get lost in for days.

The GT7 was supposed to be released in 2021, but like so many other things, it got pushed back. The release date was finally confirmed, along with the trailer, at the PlayStation Showcase in September. The game is intended to demonstrate the PS5's capabilities (though is also available for the PS4).

Gran Turismo 7 is expected to be even bigger than previous installments. You can collect hundreds of cars in the dream garage, with around 420 to choose from. Over 90 tracks will be available to race on, including some GT classics, giving drivers plenty of options.

Scape is a fantastic feature that will be carried over from Gran Turismo Sport. This enables you to position your car against a variety of high-resolution backdrops to create the ideal driving shot.

Of course, the game will have a strong online presence, and you'll probably need to keep an online connection to enjoy many of the features, just like GT Sport. However, as more users choose to download their games and allow for regular software updates, this is becoming less of an issue.

There's a standard PS4 edition and a dual PS4 and PS5 edition, so you can get the best gameplay when you finally get your hands on that elusive console. Pre-ordering the game now will earn you bonus cars and credits. There's also a deluxe edition for the 25th anniversary, which includes extra in-game credits, a special edition Toyota GR Yaris, PSN Avatars, and more.

For me, driving games benefit greatly from the use of a special controller. In previous GT games, adding a steering wheel completely changed the experience, and I expect GT7 to be the same. For the PS4 and PS5, Fanatec has released a special Gran Turismo direct drive wheel and pedals, which can be pre-ordered now for $699.95/€699.95.

Although March is still a ways off, I'm keeping my evenings and weekends free for some serious driving once Gran Turismo 7 is released.
