The filmmaker's first excursion as Agatha Christie's famed investigator Hercule Poirot ended with the super sleuth solving the Murder on the Orient Express and then taking a case that would lead him to Egypt nearly five years ago. But, thanks to Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic, we've had to wait what seems like an eternity to watch how that second case would play out on screen.

According to the several promos and new sun-kissed TV advertisements for Death onthe Nile, it will be incredibly stunning. Death on the Nile harkens back to a different age with maximum flair and star appeal, with a lavish production design and sumptuous lighting that speaks to the hint of glamour (and colonialism) that made Egyptomania so intriguing in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Indeed, it's rare to see a picture without a famous star or up-and-coming actor filling the frame. But who is who in this whodunit involving the entire ensemble? To help you keep track, we've put together the simple instructions below. Death onthe Nile stars Kenneth Branagh as Hercule Poirot..
Kenneth Branagh is Hercule Poirot
Branagh returns to the role of Hercule Poirot, Agatha Christie's most famous investigator, whose analytical abilities are so superb that they can even disguise the splendor of his finest achievement: that luscious mustache! Christie utilized the Belgian investigator in 33 books, two plays, and more than 50 short stories over the course of her career, albeit this is only Branagh's second appearance in the role.

Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, and Hamlet are only a few examples. He garnered Oscar nominations for both Best Director and Best Actor for Henry V, and he appears to be on track to repeat the latter this year after writing and directing Belfast, a lovely homage to his own youth in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

Armie Hammer as Simon Doyle
Armie Hammer makes his final scheduled appearance on-screen since recent allegations of abuse have surfaced, as he's been noticeably downplayed in most of the recent marketing for Death on the Nile. Hammer, who was formerly recognized for his beautiful charisma in films like The Social Network, Call Me By Your Name, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E., was embroiled in a slew of allegations of sexual assault, non-consensual BDSM, and an alleged cannibalism obsession last year. Hammer refuted the charges, claiming that the partnerships were mutually beneficial. Despite this, Hammer's acting agency and publicist ditched him, and he bowed out of a number of projects, including a romantic comedy with Jennifer Lopez.
The last film he's set to appear in is Death on the Nile, which was shot several years ago. He plays Simon Doyle, a wealthy scion of a strong family and Gadot's Linnet's new husband.
Emma Mackey as Jacqueline de Bellefort
Emma Mackey makes her big-screen debut as Jacqueline de Bellefort in Death on the Nile. Jacqueline is Gadot's Linnet's previous fiancée and Hammer's Simon's former fiancée. Linnet contacts Poirot because she believes Jacqueline is following her husband. Mackey is an English-French actress, with a French father and a British mother. She has starred in a number of French films, but she is most recognized for her role as Maeve in the smash Netflix series Sex Education.

Rose Leslie as Louise Bourget
Louise, Gadot's maid, and confidante played by Rose Leslie in Death on the Nile. Leslie isn't quite the domestic in real life, though. She grew up in the family's ancient castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, as a member of the Scottish Leslie Clan. She is best known for her role as Ygritte on Game of Thrones, a fiery wildling who steals Jon Snow's heart—and then shoots him with three arrows. Following her tenure on the show, she married co-star Kit Harington and has since acted in The Last Witch Hunter, Morgan, and CBS All Access' The Good Fight. She also appeared in Downton Abbey and Honeymoon, an underappreciated horror film.

Death on the Nile
Many speculate that, following the death of her Black Panther co-star Chadwick Boseman, Wright will play a larger role in future Marvel Studios films. However, a cloud of rumors has arisen around that point due to Wright allegedly espousing anti-vaccine sentiments on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
